Where is the Rodavante branch at the airport located?

The airport counters are located in the Arrivals Hall, just after baggage reclaim.

What is included in the price?

A cotação online, inclui o Valor do aluguer, Seguros Resp. civil, Seguro de Colisão -CDW (Sujeito a uma franquia), Taxas e Iva. Outros extras estão opcionalmente disponíveis online.

How far in advance should I make my booking?

Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. Availability and prices may vary depending on how far in advance the reservation is made.

When do we pay the rental ?

Payment is made at the time of booking. Bookings are automatically confirmed after payment.

Which payment methods are available?

Online payments are made by credit or debit card. For payments at the counter, you can also use cash.

Do I have to pay anything extra when I withdraw the money?

You do not have to pay anything at the counter, unless you choose another extra/service not requested at the time of booking.

Is a credit card required?

A credit card is required for security deposit purposes. At the time of rental, you must present a physical Visa or MasterCard credit card in the name of the driver/customer. American Express cards are not accepted.

How many people can drive the hired vehicle?

A total of 3 drivers are permitted (main driver + 2 additional drivers), with each additional driver subject to an additional fee.

Will I be given the vehicle I have chosen?

The chosen vehicle may be replaced by another in the same Group, with the same characteristics, or by another in a higher group.

What is the most suitable vehicle for driving in Madeira?

We advise you to choose a vehicle that is suitable for the number of people and the routes you intend to take. The slopes and type of roads in the interior of Madeira Island can be challenging for the power of some vehicles. Choosing an automatic transmission vehicle may help more inexperienced drivers.

What is the maximum age allowed to hire a vehicle?

There is no maximum age, but the minimum age is 23. However, there are restrictions on reduced excess insurance (SCDW), which is only available to drivers aged between 26 and 75.

Do I need an identification document (ID card/passport)?

Yes, all drivers (main and additional) must present a valid ID and their original, valid driving licence at the time of collection.

What should I do in the event of a breakdown or accident?

You should contact Rodavante immediately and, in the event of an accident, always contact the local police authorities to obtain a report. Never leave the scene without a report or a written statement describing the accident and signed by both parties. Clear photographs of the accident are essential.

What happens if you lose your vehicle keys?

The loss or damage of vehicle keys is not covered by any insurance, and the customer will be fully responsible for the cost of replacement, which can be high, and for the immobilisation of the vehicle. You must contact Rodavante immediately.

Is it necessary to return the vehicle clean?

The vehicle must be returned in a reasonably clean condition. In the event of excessive or unreasonable dirt (e.g. tobacco smell, animal hair, difficult-to-remove stains, footprints or mud), an extra fee will be charged to cover professional cleaning.

May I smoke inside the car or transport animals?

No. Smoking inside the car and transporting animals are strictly prohibited under the terms of hire and will incur a high cleaning fee.

When is the security deposit returned?

The security deposit is released after the vehicle is returned and inspected (usually within 24-48 hours). The time it takes for the amount to appear in the account depends on the bank’s policy.

How to get a copy of the invoice?

The final invoice will be sent by email. If the invoice should be in the name of another entity, inform us when signing the contract.

What happens if there's a traffic or parking fine?

Traffic and parking fines are the client’s responsibility. Rodavante will identify the driver to the authorities and may charge an administrative fee.
